Dashed dreams (for now)

Our new insurance says it covers infertility services 50%. Any *normal* person would believe this to mean any infertility service, whether intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF) or something more, if it is treating IF, would be covered at 50%. Well, I found out today that this in *not* the case. Our insurance covers the diagnosis, treatment, and counseling for the underlying cause of IF, but not IF itself. This means that an IUI will cost us just under $1200. That's really sucks because we were hoping to do a few rounds of IUI before moving on to IVF, but if I am going to pay out $1200 per round of IUI, we may as well save our money for an IVF. Oh well. That just means we have to *really* start saving (or my husband has to ask his parents for the money to cover it).
